Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Daytime **PRE-SCREENING/WAITLIST for 2023**

* Student MUST meet requirements for fee waiver**
A Reading TABE test is required prior to the course. If a student scores on the E Level, we will require a review and approval upon entering the course.
Students will receive their certification for this class after they have completed MAPS, ACE and all coursework.
- Pass a Drug Test
- Pass Criminal Background Check (not an automatic disqualifier - specifics need to be discussed)
- Have current state issued Drivers License/Identification
* Perform basic nursing skills within the scope of practice for a nursing assistant certified by the Alabama State Public Health Department.
* Safely and effectively perform personal care skills for residents.Recognize the psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of residents.
* Demonstrate skills which provide for restorative needs to promote the resident independence.
* Demonstrate appropriate attitude in giving nursing care.
* Exhibit proper ethical and legal behavior in giving nursing care.
* Demonstrate behavior that maintains the rights of the resident, privacy, and confidentiality.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
- Explaining how to use basic kitchen tools and equipment, including knives.
- Converting standard recipes based on portion size and number of portions.
- Demonstrating basic kitchen safety and sanitation guidelines.
- How to properly handle food from receiving to service.
- Knowledge of cross contamination, foodborne illness, and food allergens.
- How to set up side stations, display breakfast items, and maintain tables.
- Demonstrating how to greet and seat guests and anticipate guest needs.
- Explaining how to serve beverages, serve the meal, and check back to the table.
- Explaining how to present guest checks and settle bills.

Medication Assistant **PRE-SCREENING/WAITLIST for 2023**

5. Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent

Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
